Mantis, appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is a complex character with a unique history. Originally portrayed as somewhat naive and socially awkward, her arc involves significant emotional growth and self-discovery. Genetically engineered by Ego, a Celestial, to lull him to sleep, she possesses empathic abilities allowing her to sense and manipulate the emotions of others.

Following Ego's defeat, Mantis joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, becoming a valuable member through her powers and developing close relationships with her teammates.
